This was the first of what was to be several years of multi night stands at the Knitting Factory. The band had just been doing a lot of touring for Wasted Days and was starting to transition into our Close My Eyes Material.

New York shows always have more special guests than our shows in other parts of the world and this one was no expection. We had Larry McDonald sititing in on congas. Rolf Langsjoen and Jon Natchez added additional horns. Coolie Ranx came by. Ranking Joe came by.

This was an especially raucous era of the Slackers in New York. We were playing long sets late at night. People were drinking a lot and having a good time. The knitting factory was a pretty small tight room but it had some great vibes. Listen to the sound of the crowd. They were into it. And that's what makes it fun.

The sound of this recording is fuzzy. Yeah, we hit the occasional wrong note. For me though, it was more important to capture the energy of the moment than try to pretend we recorded it in a sterile place. I figured with our current covid predicament people could use a little sonic sweat and funk.
